Biography
After finishing her coursework at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, Dr. Heflin completed her internship in clinical psychology at The University of Colorado Health Sciences Center in Denver. Subsequently, she worked as a psychologist in a physical medicine and rehabilitation hospital before joining the faculty of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ). As an assistant professor at UMDNJ, she worked in a regional diagnostic and treatment program for children and adolescents suspected of having been sexually abused. She provided clinical services, supervised graduate students and conducted research regarding issues of child abuse. Dr. Heflin joined the Argosy faculty in 1997, where she has been a member of the core faculty who teach in the Child and Family Concentration. She teaches courses including Child and Adolescent Psychopathology, Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy, Treatment of Traumatized Children, and Integrative Approaches to Psychotherapy.
